Electrically Conductive and Anti-Static Caster Wheels Can Be an Important Solution for Many Industrial and Commercial Caster Applications

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can be created by swivel and rigid caster wheels when they are rolled across the floor. In some applications the buildup of electricity can be harmful to the products being transported on the cart.  The operator can also be shocked when touching the steel or plastic cart.  If you are in the medical instrumentation market, electrical or semi-conductor production market, automotive industry, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, or chemical industries then you may need anti-static caster wheels.  Not to mention flammable or highly explosive environments then it is best to have a wheel that dissipates an electric charge.

Most of the conductive wheels that we use for these applications are made of a thermoplastic rubber compound on poly core.  The wheels in the picture are a grey Performa wheel with precision ball bearings and are non marking.  They have a capacity of 410 lbs. and are 6” diameter x 2” wide tread width.  These are available in 3” up to 8” in varying capacities.

Performa Conductive wheels have been rigorously tested and approved by an independent lab and meet the requirements of federal specification FF-C-88C. This specification requires an average electrical resistance of less than 250,000 ohms. For other wheel sizes, please consult factory for availability.

Hardness: 75(±5) Durometer Shore A scale

Heavy Duty Stem Casters: What are the options?

Not all casters have a top plate for mounting.  Many times your caster requirement needs a stem to attach to your cart or equipment.  At www.heavy-dutycaster.com we have a wide variety of stem casters to choose from.  Grip ring stem casters are used in many round tube applications such as chairs, medical equipment, food service equipment and other types of commercial equipment.  Threaded stem casters are used in furniture equipment, display carts, vending machines, business machines, and work tables.  Expandable adapter stems are used in larger round tube applications such as food equipment tables and equipment.  Square stem casters are typically used in square tubing and have holes cross drilled in the stem to allow the caster to be secured inside the tube.  Octagon stem and round stem casters are used in 1" od round tubing and have grip ring to secure it into the tube.
Large round stem casters and even square stem casters are commonly used in scaffold equipment.  We can do metric stems and standard size stems.  Most of the heavy duty stem casters are used in specific applications and must be specified accordingly.

HEAVY DUTY 9580 SERIES KINGPINLESS CASTERS AND FORGED STEEL FLOOR LOCKS

We provide heavy duty casters and wheels to industrial and commercial oem fabricators who build heavy duty carts and production equipment.  This particular set of casters feature a 2,500# capacity per caster and have 8" x 3" poly on cast iron wheels with roller bearings and top lock brakes installed for wheel brake.  The forged steel floor lock is used to lift the cart just enough to take the weight off the casters to give a positive stop so the carts will not roll.
